Let’s Talk About the Pelvic Floor… Because More Women Should!
💧 Do you leak a little when you laugh, cough, sneeze, jump, or exercise? 😬
💧 Do you find yourself mapping out the nearest bathroom everywhere you go?
💧 Are you experiencing urinary urgency, changes after pregnancy, pelvic weakness, or simply feeling like your pelvic floor isn’t as strong as it used to be?
You are definitely not alone.
Pelvic floor dysfunction and urinary incontinence affect women of many ages and can become especially noticeable following pregnancy and childbirth or as the body changes through perimenopause and menopause.
And while pelvic floor exercises have long been part of conservative care, there is another technology that has been gaining attention: The EMSella Chair 🪑
At Within Natural Health, we use EMSella as part of our customized Pelvic Floor Reset approach to help women strengthen their pelvic floor and address urinary incontinence—without surgery, needles, anesthesia, or downtime.
And yes… you stay fully clothed. 👕✨
💦 First Things First: What Exactly Is the Pelvic Floor?
Your pelvic floor is a group of muscles and connective tissues that forms a supportive “hammock” at the bottom of your pelvis.
These muscles help support structures including the:
☑️ Bladder
☑️ Uterus
☑️ Rectum
They also play an important role in bladder and bowel control, core stability, and sexual function.
Like other muscles in the body, pelvic floor muscles can become weakened or function less effectively.
Pregnancy and childbirth, aging, hormonal changes, chronic straining or constipation, and other factors can all contribute to changes in pelvic floor function.
And sometimes the first clue is something that seems small:
💧 A little leak when you sneeze.
💧 Then maybe it happens when you laugh.
💧 Then during a workout.
💧 Then suddenly you’re thinking about your bladder a lot more than you ever wanted to. 🚽
These symptoms may be common, but that doesn’t mean you have to simply ignore them.
🪑 So… What Is the EMSella Chair?
EMSella is a non-invasive device that uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology to stimulate the pelvic floor muscles.
Here’s the interesting part:
You literally just sit on the chair. That’s it. 👏
☑️ No changing into a hospital gown.
☑️ No surgery.
☑️ No needles.
☑️ No anesthesia.
☑️ No recovery period.
During your session, electromagnetic energy stimulates the motor neurons that control the pelvic floor, producing repeated involuntary pelvic floor muscle contractions.
Think of it as an extremely intense pelvic floor workout—except the technology is causing the contractions for you. The EMSella is equivelent to 12,000 kegals but without breaking a sweat! ⚡
At Within Natural Health, an EMSella session lasts approximately 30 minutes, and you remain fully clothed throughout the session.
Afterward, there is generally no downtime, so you can return to your normal activities.
🤯 “Wait… Is It Basically Like Doing Kegels?”
Not exactly.
A Kegel requires you to voluntarily identify, contract, hold, and relax your pelvic floor muscles.
That can be extremely helpful—but there’s a catch:
You have to activate the right muscles correctly and consistently.
HIFEM technology produces involuntary contractions of the pelvic floor muscles that cannot be replicated in exactly the same way through voluntary exercise alone.
Researchers have been investigating whether this type of stimulation can improve pelvic floor muscle function and symptoms of urinary incontinence.
And the research is promising. 🔬✨
📚 What Does the Research Say?
We believe in WE TEST. WE DON’T GUESS. — and we also believe that when we discuss health technology, we should look at the science.
🔬 Study #1: Six Sessions & Urinary Incontinence
A 2024 study published in Therapeutics and Clinical Risk Management evaluated 35 women with stress or mixed urinary incontinence.
Participants completed six EMSella treatments, performed twice weekly.
Researchers reported that the participants’ average International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Short Form (ICIQ-SF) score decreased by approximately 52% after the six sessions and approximately 60% at the one-month follow-up.
That doesn’t mean every patient will experience those exact results—but it provides encouraging clinical evidence for HIFEM technology as a non-invasive option for urinary incontinence.¹
🔬 Study #2: What Does the Bigger Picture Show?
A systematic review and meta-analysis published in Neurourology and Urodynamics evaluated the available research on non-invasive HIFEM therapy in women with urinary incontinence.
The authors concluded that HIFEM shows potential as a non-invasive treatment option while also emphasizing the importance of the quality and limitations of the available studies.²
That distinction matters.
We don’t believe in promising a “miracle chair.”
We believe in using technology appropriately, evaluating the individual patient, and developing a plan based on what your body needs.
That’s important because it supports something we strongly believe at Within Natural Health:
Sometimes the best results come from looking beyond ONE therapy. 🧩
✨ The Pelvic Floor Reset™ ✨
Rather than automatically giving every woman the exact same program, we begin with an evaluation and develop recommendations based on your individual findings.
Depending on those findings and the customized program you choose may incorporate:
🪑 EMSella Pelvic Floor Strengthening
⚡ Pelvic & Nervous System Evaluation
🦴 Pelvic and Sacral Alignment
💪 Assessment of Core and Postural Function
🌿 Individualized Nutritional Support
The goal is to look at the whole picture, rather than focusing on one symptom in isolation.
👶 “But I Had My Baby Years Ago!”
This is something women often overlook.
Pregnancy and childbirth can place significant stress on the pelvic floor, and symptoms don’t necessarily have to appear immediately.
Maybe your child is 2.
Maybe they’re 12.
Maybe they’re 25. 😅
Changes in muscle function, hormones, connective tissue, aging, and activity can influence how symptoms present over time.
So if you find yourself saying:
“This started after I had kids, so I guess this is just my life now…”
It may be worth having your pelvic floor evaluated.
🌸 What About Perimenopause & Menopause?
Pelvic health can also change during the menopausal transition.
Hormonal changes can affect tissues throughout the genitourinary system, while age-related changes in muscle strength can affect pelvic floor function.
Some women begin noticing:
💦 More bladder leakage
🚽 Increased urgency
🏃♀️ Leakage during exercise
💗 Changes in sexual function
💪 Decreased pelvic or core strength
Emerging research has also explored the relationship between chair-based magnetic pelvic floor stimulation and sexual function in women with urinary incontinence.
A recent systematic review found encouraging improvements across several studies, although researchers emphasized that larger and longer-term clinical trials are still needed.⁴
Your health deserves a personalized evaluation—not an internet promise.
🌿 A Different Approach to Pelvic Health
At Within Natural Health, we don’t believe every woman should receive the same protocol.
Your symptoms are part of your health story.
That’s why our Pelvic Floor Reset™ combines modern pelvic floor technology with our whole-body, individualized philosophy.
We want to understand:
☑️What is happening?
☑️Why might it be happening?
☑️What does YOUR examination show?
And most importantly:
☑️What can we do to support better function?
